Lithic technology is about making things from stones. Have you ever seen a pretty rock and wanted to keep it as a treasure? People long ago also loved rocks and wanted to use them in different ways. They learned how to shape them into tools for hunting, cooking, and surviving.
To start, they picked the right kind of rock that was strong and easy to shape, such as flint or obsidian. Then, they would hit the rock with another hard object, like a hammerstone, until it had a certain shape they wanted. They could make sharp edges for knives, points for spears, and scrapers for cleaning animal hides.
Sometimes, they would even attach the stones to sticks or wood handles with twine or glue made from animal bones. This made the tools easier to use and more effective.
Lithic technology helped humans survive in the past and is still important today, especially for some indigenous communities who still use stones to make tools and art.
