Liturgy of the Hours

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of something called the Liturgy of the Hours? It's a fancy way of saying that people pray at certain times of the day. It's kind of like a schedule for prayer.

So imagine that you have a really, really important friend who you want to talk to every day. But this friend is so important that they are really busy and can't always talk when you want to. So you decide that you will set a schedule for when you will talk to them each day. You might talk to them in the morning before breakfast, at lunchtime, and before bedtime.

Well, that's what the Liturgy of the Hours is like! It's a schedule for when people will pray throughout the day. People who follow the Liturgy of the Hours usually pray in the morning when they first wake up, at noon, in the early evening, and at bedtime.

But there's more to it than just praying at certain times of the day. People who follow the Liturgy of the Hours also pray specific prayers and read passages from the Bible. Each day has its own set of prayers and readings, so people who follow the Liturgy of the Hours will hear lots of different parts of the Bible over time.

The Liturgy of the Hours is an important way that some people show their love and devotion to God. It helps them stay connected to God throughout their day, even when they are busy doing other things. And because they are praying and reading the Bible together with other people who follow the Liturgy of the Hours, they feel like they are part of a big, loving community.
