Okay kiddo, let's talk about something called the local bubble. Imagine you're in a big bubble and everything around you is also in that same bubble. Well, our galaxy, the Milky Way, is also in a big bubble called the local bubble.
This bubble is not made of soap like yours, but instead it is made up of gas and dust that is illuminated by the nearby stars. The local bubble is about 300 light years wide and is located in the Orion Arm of our galaxy.
This bubble is really important because it protects us from some of the dangerous cosmic rays that come from outer space. It also helps us understand how stars and other objects move around in our galaxy.
Despite being in this bubble, we can still see other galaxies and stars out in the universe. Scientists study the local bubble to learn more about our galaxy and the universe beyond it.
So, just like you take care of your little bubble, scientists take care of studying and understanding the local bubble!
