Hybridisation is when two different things come together to make something new. For example, if two different types of plants are crossed, the offspring of the two plants can be a new type of plant called a "hybrid". Hybrid plants often have different features than the plants they were made from. For example, they may be bigger, more colourful or grow more quickly. Hybridisation can also happen between animals, such as when different types of dogs are crossed to create a new type of dog.
