Logan Act

The Logan Act is like a rule book for the United States government that says people who are not in charge of the government are not allowed to talk to other governments on behalf of the US. This is because the government wants to make sure that only the people who are supposed to be in charge of talking to other countries are doing it, so that they can make sure everyone is on the same page and that the things being talked about are in the best interest of the country. Breaking this rule can lead to serious consequences, like being punished by the government or even going to jail. So, it's really important that everyone follows the Logan Act and lets the people in charge handle things when it comes to talking to other countries.
