ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Logical security

Logical security is like a superhero that protects your computer or device from bad guys who want to steal your personal information or damage your files. Just like Batman and Spiderman saves the day when someone is in danger, logical security makes sure that only you or people you trust can access your computer or device.

Have you ever heard of a password? It's like a secret word that only you know and it can unlock your computer or phone to let you or someone you trust in. Logical security makes sure that password is strong enough so nobody can guess it and break into your stuff. It's like locking your room with a key so your little brother or sister can't get in and mess up your toys.

Logical security also makes sure that only the right people can access the right information. Just like a teacher or parent would only tell you certain things that you can understand or handle, logical security only gives certain information rights and access to certain people. For example, your mommy needs to pay your school tuition, so she has the right to use her credit card to pay online. Logical security will only allow her to do that, and not let anyone else use her information.

So, when you see the lock icon on your computer or phone, you can remember that logical security is working hard to keep your secrets safe and protected. Just like a superhero, it can't always guarantee everything will be okay, but it works hard to protect you from bad guys that want to do you harm.
