ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Logogram

A logogram is a special kind of letter or symbol that represents an entire word. For example, the dollar sign ($) is an example of a logogram because it stands for the word "dollar." Other logograms you may see are the & sign (which stands for the word "and") or the % sign (which stands for the word "percent"). Logograms can make written words easier to understand and can help save time when writing.
