ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Low emissivity

Okay kiddo, so you know how sometimes when you touch something outside on a hot day it feels really hot? That's because the thing you touched is giving off heat, or what we call "emitting" heat. But sometimes we want things to not emit heat as much, like if we want to keep a room cool when it's hot outside.

That's where something called "low emissivity" comes in. It's like a special coating that we put on windows or other surfaces to make them not give off as much heat. This special coating reflects the heat back inside, sort of like a mirror reflecting your image back at you. That way the heat stays inside, and the room stays cool.

Low emissivity is really useful for saving energy and keeping us comfortable, especially in places where it gets really hot outside. It's kind of like magic!
