Lower Greensand Group

The Lower Greensand Group is a group of rocks that are very old and were formed millions and millions of years ago. These rocks are found in parts of Europe and were created from the remains of sea creatures and other things that were on the ocean floor. The rocks get their name because they are greenish in color and they have sand in them.

Imagine going to the beach and building a sandcastle. The sand you used to make the castle is like the sand in the Lower Greensand Group rocks. But instead of just regular sand, these rocks have special minerals mixed in with them, which is what makes them green.

These rocks are important because they contain fossils of ancient sea creatures that help scientists learn about what the ocean was like a long time ago. It's like a big puzzle that scientists put together to learn about the history of the Earth.
