ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lykov family

Once upon a time, there was a family named the Lykovs who lived in a very secluded place deep in the Siberian forest. They were very far away from anyone else, and they didn't have any modern things like telephones or computers. They had to rely on the things they could find in the forest to survive, like mushrooms, berries, and wild animals.

The Lykovs were different from the other families in the nearby villages because they were hiding from the government. The government wanted people to live in towns and have jobs, but the Lykovs wanted to live on their own and be left alone. So they went deeper and deeper into the forest to make sure they weren't found.

The family was made up of a father, mother, and their four children. They lived in a small wooden hut that they built themselves. They didn't have any electricity or running water, so they had to make fires to keep warm and cook their food. They even made their own clothes from the fur of the animals they hunted.

The Lykovs lived like this for over forty years, never seeing anyone outside their family. They had no idea what was happening in the world around them. But one day, a group of geologists stumbled upon their home while working in the area. They were amazed to find this family living in such a remote place and surviving on their own for so long.

The geologists eventually helped the Lykovs by giving them some things they needed, like salt and seeds. They also told the government about the family, which led to them being visited by some officials. The family was afraid at first because they had never seen outsiders before, but they eventually learned to trust them.

Despite their isolation and hardships, the Lykovs managed to survive in the forest for decades. They were a unique and resilient family who lived off the land and created their own way of life.
