ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

M&C!

M&C stands for manufacturing and construction, which are two important things that adults do to make things for us to use. Manufacturing is when people make things in big factories, like toys or cars. Construction is when people build things, like houses or buildings.

Imagine you're trying to build a sandcastle on the beach. First, you need to make sure you have all the tools and materials you need, like a bucket and shovel. Then you start building by scooping sand into the bucket and packing it down. It's important to make sure the sandcastle is strong and won't fall apart when you try to decorate it with shells or seaweed.

Similarly, when grown-ups do m&c, they need to first gather all the tools and materials they need to make the things they are making. They might need machines and raw materials or they might need hammers and nails to build something. They use their skills and knowledge to make sure everything is put together properly so that it can be used safely and last a long time.
