Macaulayism

Macaulayism is a policy that was created in India by Lord Thomas Macaulay in 1835. It was designed to change India's education system and give more emphasis to western education. It meant that English language and western values and ideas were taught in India instead of traditional Indian ones. This made it easier for the British people who were in charge of the country to govern. It also meant that the British culture and ideas became more dominant over traditional Indian culture.
