Madja-as

Madja-as is a group of islands in the Philippines. Imagine you are playing with little toy islands and you see a group of them close together. That's like Madja-as!

A long time ago, people called the Austronesians lived on Madja-as. They had their own language, customs, and beliefs. They would fish in the ocean and plant crops like rice and coconuts on the land.

One day, some other people came to Madja-as. They were from a place called Borneo. These new people were called the Malays. They also had their own language, customs, and beliefs.

The Austronesians and Malays became friends and even intermarried. Together, they created a new culture on Madja-as. They did things like make beautiful textiles, carve wood statues, and play music.

Madja-as was an important place because it was located near lots of trade routes. People from all over the world came to Madja-as to trade goods like spices, gold, and silk.

Today, Madja-as is still an important part of the Philippines. It's a beautiful place with lots of beaches, mountains, and forests. People still live there and keep the traditions of the Austronesians and Malays alive.
