ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Male pregnancy

Male pregnancy is when a man can carry and give birth to a baby, just like a woman. It's very rare, and it happens very differently from how a woman's body gives birth. A woman's body creates something called a uterus, which is a space in her body where a baby can grow and be born. A man's body does not create a uterus, so instead of having a baby grow in his body, a man can have an operation called a surrogate pregnancy. This means that doctors will take an egg and a sperm (which is the stuff that makes a baby) and put them into a separate person's uterus, usually a woman. That person will carry the baby to full-term and later give birth to it. The man then becomes the child's parent, just like a woman.
