Maquette

A maquette is like a toy or a small model of something that an artist wants to make bigger in real life. Imagine if you are making a big castle out of Legos, you might start by making a small version or a maquette to help you plan what the big, real version will look like.

Artists use maquettes to help them figure out what their bigger art project will look like. They can use different materials like clay or paper mache to create their maquette, and it usually shows all the details of the bigger project, like the shape, size, and colors. Sometimes, artists may even use a maquette to show someone how their final art project will look like before start crafting it or show it to people who might want to buy it or fund it.
