Marcus Gavius Apicius

Marcus Gavius Apicius was a very fancy Roman man who lived a long time ago. He loved to eat really delicious and fancy food that was only for rich and important people. He was so famous for his love of good food that people started calling him Apicius.

Apicius wrote a book all about fancy food called "De re coquinaria" which means "On Cookery". In this book, he wrote lots of recipes for fancy and delicious food that only rich people could afford. He also gave lots of tips for how to cook the food just right.

Some of the dishes that Apicius wrote about were things like roasted peacock, stuffed pig's bladder, and even a dessert made from honey, nuts, and wine. These were very different from the simple foods that most people ate at that time.

Apicius was a very important person in ancient Rome because he had so much knowledge about cooking and food. Even though he lived a long time ago, his book is still used by chefs today to create new and delicious recipes for us to enjoy!
