The Margaritifer Sinus Quadrangle (MSQ) is an area on Mars made up of four sides, or corners. It's called a quadrangle because it looks like a square with four corners. This area is interesting because it has a lot of different types of terrain which are all different colors. The colors are created by different types of rocks and minerals which are found in the area. For example, one of the colors is a yellow-brown which is caused by sulfur-rich minerals. Scientists study the MSQ because they want to understand more about the environment on Mars and learn more about how Mars was formed.
