Hey there little one! Have you ever been swimming in a big pool or at the beach? Well, sometimes there are parts of the ocean that are not connected to the big open ocean and these are called marginal seas.
Just like how we have different rooms in our house, the Earth also has different areas of the ocean that are separated by land, islands or underwater ridges. These areas that are not part of the big open ocean but are still connected to it are called marginal seas.
In these marginal seas, the water can be different from the rest of the ocean because of factors like temperature, saltiness, and the type of creatures that live in it. Some examples of marginal seas are the Mediterranean Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico.
Even though these seas are smaller and not directly connected to the big open ocean, they are still important and have lots of different creatures living in them. We need to take care of these marginal seas just like we take care of the big open ocean so that all the creatures can live happy and healthy lives.
