ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Marl

Marl is a type of soil that is made up of two different things mixed together. One part of it is made up of tiny little pieces of rock and minerals, and the other part is made up of decayed plants and animals. You can kind of think of it like a yummy smoothie. Sometimes when you make a smoothie, you put in a bunch of different things, like fruits and veggies, and then blend them all up together. That's kind of like what happens with marl - the two parts get mixed together and create this special type of soil.

Marl is pretty cool because it has a lot of different nutrients and minerals in it, which can be really good for plants. It also tends to hold onto water pretty well, which is important because plants need water to grow.

So, if you're a farmer or a gardener, you might really like marl because it can help your plants grow big and strong. And if you're just a curious kid who likes learning about rocks and soil, well, now you know a little more about marl!
