ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Marriageable age

Okay little one, let's talk about marriageable age. This is the age when you are legally allowed to get married. It differs from country to country and even within different states or provinces.

In most parts of the world, the minimum marriageable age is usually 18 years old. But, sometimes people can get permission to marry at a younger age with their parents' consent or the permission of a judge.

The reason for having a minimum age for marriage is to make sure that people who get married are mature enough to handle the responsibilities that come with it, like taking care of each other and making important decisions.

It's important to remember that just because you are legally allowed to get married, it doesn't mean you are ready for it. Marriage is a big responsibility and a lifelong commitment, so it's important to think carefully and make sure you're ready before you say "I do."
