ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mary Arlene Appelhof

Mary Arlene Appelhof was a very smart lady who loved worms! She found out that worms were really good at helping plants grow, and making something called compost. Compost is like a magical dirt that helps plants grow really well.

Mary wanted people to know how great worms were, so she wrote a book all about them called "Worms Eat My Garbage". In her book, she taught people how to make compost with worms, and she even had a special place called a "worm bin" where they could live and eat food scraps.

Her book became very popular and lots of people started making worm bins and composting with worms. Mary even won a big award for being really good at teaching people about composting!
