Matching pennies is a game you can play with a friend. You each get one penny and draw lines on a piece of paper. On one side of the paper, you draw a line in the middle and label it "heads". On the other side, draw another line and label it "tails". Then both of you put your penny on one of the two lines. If both pennies land on the same side (both "heads" or both "tails"), then you both get to keep your own penny. But if your pennies land on opposite sides (one "heads" and one "tails"), then the person who put their penny on the side that didn't match (so, if one person put their penny on "heads" and the other person put theirs on "tails"), the person who didn't match has to give their penny to the other person. So, if you match, nobody loses a penny, but if you don't match, one person will lose a penny!
