ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Matthew effect

The Matthew Effect is a saying from the Bible which means "the more you have, the more you get." It means that the people who start off with a lot of money, resources, or privilege tend to get even more over time. For example, if a wealthy person makes a big investment that pays off, they might save the money and use it to make more investments, adding to their wealth. The same thing can happen with education and talent - if someone is already talented in a certain area and they get a chance to practice or study more, they will likely become an expert in that area.
