Mechanical organ

A mechanical organ is a big instrument that makes music by blowing air through pipes. It looks like a giant box with a lot of buttons and knobs. When someone presses a button, air flows through some pipes, making a sound.

Imagine blowing up a balloon and then letting the air out really fast, making a silly noise. That's kind of what happens in a mechanical organ, but on a bigger scale. Different buttons make different sounds because they blow air through different pipes.

The cool thing about a mechanical organ is that it can play lots of different kinds of music all by itself! Someone rolls a paper roll with holes in it through the machine, and the holes tell the organ which buttons to press to play the music.

Next time you hear music playing and there isn't anyone playing an instrument, it might just be a mechanical organ!
