Mechanically separated meat is a type of processed meat. It starts off with real meat, like chicken or turkey. But a machine then removes it from the bones by squishing it and pushing it through a sieve or grinder. The result is a paste-like substance that looks a bit like baby food. It doesn't look or taste like regular meat, but it still has some of the nutrients from the original chunk of meat. Companies use it in products like hot dogs and sausages.
