ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Medium wave

Okay kiddo, medium wave is like a special kind of radio signal that travels through the air from one place to another. It's called "medium wave" because it's not too long like some other kinds of radio waves, and it's not too short either. It's right in the middle, like medium pizza!

When you listen to a radio station, you're actually picking up these medium wave signals that the radio station is sending out. So if you want to listen to your favorite radio station, you have to find the right "channel" that the signal is on. Just like how you have to find the right TV channel to watch your favorite show.

The reason medium wave is special is because it can travel pretty far without needing any fancy equipment. That's why you can listen to the same radio station in different parts of the city, or even in different states or countries!

But sometimes big buildings or other things can get in the way of the signal and make it hard to hear. So if you're having trouble getting a clear radio signal, try moving around to a different spot or maybe even try again later when there aren't as many obstacles in the way.

Overall, medium wave is just one of the ways we can use radio signals to communicate with each other. And it's pretty cool that we can hear all kinds of music, news, and other fun stuff just by tuning into the right channel!
