Megatons to Megawatts Program

The Megatons to Megawatts program is a project that was started in 1993 to help reduce the amount of nuclear weapons in the world. It worked by taking the radioactive material from old nuclear weapons and turning it into electricity. The electricity then went to homes and businesses, providing energy to people all around the world. The project lasted 20 years and during that time it made enough energy to power 18 million homes. In all, the project eliminated over 20,000 nuclear weapons, which helped make the world a safer place.
