Membership discrimination in California social clubs

Okay kiddo, imagine you have a special club with your friends where you all like to play together and have fun. But what if someone didn't want to let you be a part of their club just because of something like the color of your hair or the clothes you like to wear? That would not be very nice, right?

Well, there are some clubs in California for adults that sometimes don't let people join based on things like their race or religion. This is called membership discrimination, and it's not allowed in California. It means that people are being left out and not given a fair chance to join the club just because of who they are.

The state of California has a law that says that social clubs, like the one you have with your friends, cannot discriminate against people based on things like race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. This law means that everyone should have the same opportunity to join and have fun in the club, no matter who they are.

So, just like in your club, everyone should be able to join and have fun together, no matter what they look like or who they are. It's important to be kind and inclusive to everyone, no matter what.
