Memorial pole

Okay kiddo, you know how sometimes when someone you love passes away, you might want to do something to remember them by? Well, a memorial pole is kind of like that, but for a whole bunch of people who might have passed away a long time ago.

A memorial pole is a very tall and skinny pole made out of wood. People usually carve designs and pictures into the wood to honor and remember people who were important to their group or community. It's kind of like a special way to say "we haven't forgotten about you, we still love and remember you".

The designs and pictures on the pole can tell stories about the people being remembered, or about important events or beliefs of the group. The pole might be made by one person or by a whole bunch of people working together. They might use special tools like chisels and knives to carve the pole, and they might paint it with bright colors to make it even more special.

Once the pole is finished, it might be put up in a special place for everyone to see, like in a park or in front of a community building. People can come and visit the pole and remember the people being honored, even if they didn't know them personally.
