Menstruation in Islam is a normal body process that happens to girls and women. It is a time when blood flows out of the uterus from the female body. Every month, the female body prepares for pregnancy and if it does not happen, the uterus releases the lining it created which comes out as blood from the body.
In Islam, menstruation is considered to be a natural and normal process, and it is not considered to be dirty or shameful. Women are allowed to perform most of their normal activities during their menstrual cycle, except for praying, fasting and having sexual intercourse. This is because Muslim women are considered to be in a state of impurity during menstruation.
During menstruation, Muslim women are not allowed to perform the daily prayers because blood is considered impure and cannot be involved with the purity and cleanness of worship. They must make up the missed prayers once their menstrual cycle ends. Similarly, during Ramadan, they cannot fast while they are menstruating, but they must make up the days later.
Also, Muslim women should not engage in sexual activity during their menstrual cycle as it is considered impure. After the menstrual bleeding has stopped, they must take a bath or shower, known as "Ghusl", to purify themselves before they can resume their normal activities.
It is important to understand that menstruation in Islam is seen as a natural and normal process that women go through. Women should not feel ashamed or embarrassed about it, and they should be allowed to continue with their daily activities as normally as possible.
