Metallurgical assay is a way to test how much of a metal, like gold or silver, is in something like an ore. It's like a special way of measuring. A metallurgist takes a sample of the ore and puts it into a big oven. Then the metallurgist takes the hot ore out and smashes it into tiny pieces. The tiny pieces are put into a furnace with a strong chemical that breaks down the ore and separates the metal out of it. The metallurgist can then measure how much of the metal is in the ore. They usually express this as a percentage.
