Metamorphic rock

Hey kiddo! Do you know what rocks are? They are kind of like big hard pebbles that you can find outside. But did you know that rocks can change over time? It's true!

When rocks are under a lot of pressure or heat, they can change into a different kind of rock. This process is called metamorphism. Think of it like when your playdough gets squished really hard and changes shape.

Metamorphic rocks are the ones that were changed this way. They can be really colorful and cool looking because of all the pressure and heat they went through. Some examples of metamorphic rocks are slate, marble, and gneiss.

It's kind of like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. The caterpillar goes through a lot of changes and becomes something totally different. Same thing with rocks! They go through changes and become new and different kinds of rocks. Cool, huh?
