ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Methodological dualism

Methodological dualism is a way of thinking about different ways of getting knowledge. It's like having two sets of tools. One set is made up of science and math, and the other set is made up of philosophy and experience. Science and math are used to get knowledge about things that can be seen, touched and measured. Philosophy and experience are used to get knowledge about things that we can't measure, but we can still understand, like feelings, values, and ideas. With methodological dualism, we can look at the world in two ways, and use both sets of tools to help us learn more.
