Mexico–United States border

The Mexico–United States border is the area where Mexico and the United States meet. It has a total length of nearly 2,000 miles and stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean. Along the border are tall fences and walls that are meant to help keep people from illegally crossing from Mexico into the United States. People and goods that are legally allowed to cross the border must pass through checkpoints, where they have to show their passports or other documents before they are allowed to cross.
