Alright kiddo, are you ready to learn about the history of Microsoft Windows versions?
Microsoft Windows is like the operating system (OS) or the boss of your computer. It is the program that tells your computer what to do and how to do it. Just like how your teacher tells you what to do in class.
The first version of Microsoft Windows was Windows 1.0 and it was released way back in 1985. It was like a baby version of the Microsoft Windows we know now, it had colorful graphics and could run different programs all at once.
Fast-forward to 1990 and Microsoft came up with Windows 3.0. This version had more features, like being able to use a mouse to click on things and a program that you could use to write documents.
Then in 1995, Windows 95 was released. This was a huge improvement because it looked neat and organized with a Menu button in the bottom left corner that made it easy to find programs. Kids like you, loved it because Microsoft integrated a new game called "Minesweeper" with Windows 95.
Windows XP came out in 2001. It looked very different from Windows 95 and you could change its appearance to look like you wanted to. It was also faster and had more features like a "start" button on the bottom left corner of the screen.
Windows Vista was released in 2006 and lots of people did not like it because it was slower and had lots of bugs (that's like when you have a cold and you feel yucky all the time).
Windows 7 was released in 2009 and was a big improvement from Windows Vista. It had a start button that was prettier than the one in Windows XP, and it was faster, too!
In 2012, Microsoft came up with Windows 8. It was challenging for people because it looked very different. The start button was gone, and it had a new interface designed for touch screens.
Windows 10 was released in 2015 and it's the newest version of Microsoft Windows (Yay, we made it!). It goes back to having a start button and looks more like Windows 7 in some ways. Windows 10 also has new features like a Microsoft digital assistant named Cortana, and Windows ink, which lets you draw or write on the computer with a special pen.
So, there you have it, kiddo, a brief history of Microsoft Windows versions from baby Windows 1.0 to grown-up Windows 10.
