Milk-alkali syndrome

Milk-alkali syndrome is when you drink too much milk or take too many calcium supplements and your body gets too much calcium.

When you drink milk or take calcium supplements, your body starts to use the calcium to make your bones and help your muscles work right. But if you take too much, your body can't get rid of it all and the extra calcium can cause problems.

The problem with too much calcium is that it can make your body too basic, which means it has too much of something called alkalinity. This can make your kidneys, which are important for getting rid of waste, work extra hard.

Some signs of milk-alkali syndrome can be feeling sick to your stomach, throwing up, or feeling dizzy. So, it's best to only drink the recommended amount of milk and talk to a doctor before taking any new supplements.
