ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mine closure

Okay kiddo, when people find and take out things like coal or gold from the ground, they need to leave the area safe and clean when they're all done. That's what we call "mine closure." Think of it like finishing a really big and messy project, and afterwards you want to clean up so everything is neat and tidy.

But it's not just about cleaning up the mess - they also need to make sure that the animals and plants around the mine are protected, and that people who live near the mine won't be hurt by anything left over. Sometimes that can take years to do right, so companies have to plan it all out ahead of time.

It's kind of like a game where you have to think ahead and plan your moves, so that everything ends up looking nice and nobody gets hurt.
