Mino washi

Mino washi is a special kind of paper that comes from Japan. It's made in a town called Mino, and that's why it's called Mino washi! They make this paper by using a very old fashioned way that's been used for over 1,000 years!

First, they gather up special trees called mulberry trees. They peel off the outside layer of the bark, and then they take out the soft and yummy inside part of the bark. They take these pieces and put them in a big pot of water for a few hours until they're really soft.

Next, they take all the pieces and place them on a big screen. They press down really hard to get all the water out. Then they let it dry in the sun for a couple of days.

After that, they take the dried pieces and put them through a machine to make them even thinner. This makes the paper really soft and nice to touch!

People use Mino washi for all sorts of things, from making fancy artwork to using it as writing paper. It's really strong and can last a very long time, which is why people love it so much!
