Minstrel show

A minstrel show was a type of entertainment that used to be popular a long time ago. People would dress up in costumes and put on makeup to imitate Black people, who were often enslaved or oppressed at the time. They would sing and dance and tell jokes that were meant to make fun of Black people and stereotypes about them. This was very mean and hurtful, and it made many Black people feel ashamed and humiliated. Nowadays, we know that this type of entertainment is very wrong and hurtful, and we need to make sure we treat everyone with kindness and respect.
