ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Misprision of treason

"Okay kiddo, misprision of treason is kind of like when you see your friend do something wrong, but you don't tell anyone about it. For example, if your friend was stealing a toy from someone else and you didn't say anything, that could be considered misprision of theft.

But for misprision of treason, it's when you know someone is planning or doing something to hurt the country you live in, like trying to overthrow the government or help an enemy country. If you find out about it and don't tell anyone, you could get in trouble too.

It's important to always speak up when you know something bad is happening, especially if it could hurt a lot of people. That way, the authorities can step in and make sure everyone is safe and protected. Does that make sense?"
