Treason

Treason is when someone does something really, really bad against their own country. Imagine if you and your friends are playing a game and you decide to cheat against your own team, or if you take all the money from your family and run away. This would be doing something very bad against people who trust you and care about you, just like when someone commits treason against their country.

Treason can mean many different things, but usually it means someone does something to hurt their country, like spying or working with an enemy country. For example, if someone who works for the military gives away important secrets to another country, they are committing treason. Or if someone tries to overthrow the government and take control, that's also treason.

When someone commits treason, it's very serious and can even be punished by death in some countries. This is why it's really important to be loyal to your country and not do anything that could harm it.
