ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Missing-children milk carton

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen pictures of missing children on the side of milk cartons or in stores? That's because sometimes kids get lost, kidnapped, or run away from home, and their family can't find them. To help, they make copies of the child's picture and some details like their name, age, and where they were last seen.

Then they put those pictures on milk cartons or in stores because lots of people buy milk and go to stores, so they might see the pictures and recognize the missing child. If someone sees the picture and knows something about the missing child, they can call a phone number on the side of the carton or alert the police.

It's like a big game of "Where's Waldo" but instead of finding Waldo, we're trying to find the missing child and help them get back to their family where they are safe and loved.
