ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mixture model

A mixture model is like a recipe for a cake. It has different ingredients (called components) and the recipe will tell you which ingredients to put in the cake and in what amounts. The components of a mixture model can be things like probability distributions, data points, and certain other mathematical objects. A mixture model is like a combination of several separate models blended together, just like a cake is made of different ingredients blended together. You can use a mixture model to figure out how likely it is to get certain results in an experiment or to make predictions based on data.
