ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Modec

Modec is a company that makes big boats called "floating production storage and offloading" (FPSO) vessels. These big boats are like mini factories that float on the water and are used to drill oil or gas from under the sea.

The FPSO vessels have all the equipment needed to do the drilling, including pumps, pipes, and tanks. After the oil or gas is drilled, it is stored on the boat until it can be offloaded onto another vessel or transported to a refinery.

Think of it like a big bathtub that you fill with water (in this case, oil or gas) and then you use a cup to scoop out the water and pour it into a bucket. The FPSO is like the bathtub and the cup is like the equipment that does the drilling and offloading.

Modec makes these big boats for other companies that want to drill for oil or gas but don't have the equipment or resources to build their own FPSO vessels. This way, companies can focus on the drilling while Modec handles the boat building and maintenance.
