ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Moksha (Jainism)

Moksha is a big word that means being free from all the bad things that can happen to us in life. It's like being free from all the worries and problems that we have when we're born and growing up.

In Jainism, it means being free from something called karma, which is like a tally of all the good and bad things we've done in our lives. If we do a lot of bad things, then our karma gets worse and we won't be able to be free from it. But if we do a lot of good things and live a good life, then we may be able to break free from our karma and be released from the cycle of birth and death.

So, if you imagine a lotus flower growing in a pond. When the flower first starts, it's down in the mud and can't see the sunlight or the sky. But as it grows, it moves up towards the water's surface, gets out of the mud, and can see the world around it. That's what moksha is like - breaking free from the mud and darkness of bad karma and rising up to see the light and beauty of the world.
