Monarchy of Finland

Okay kiddo, so Finland used to have a king or queen just like other countries with a monarchy. But then, in 1917, Finland declared independence from Russia and decided to become a republic instead, which means they didn't want a monarch anymore.

Before that, a long time ago, Finland was actually under the rule of Sweden for many years, and then it became part of Russia. During that time, they had kings and queens who had a lot of power and made important decisions for the country.

But now, Finland is a democratic country where the people get to vote for their leaders and make decisions together. They have a president who is elected every six years by the people, and they work with a group of other leaders to run the country.

So while Finland had a monarchy in the past, they don't have one anymore and they like it that way!
