The Mount of Temptation is a mountain in the Judean Desert, near the city of Jericho in the West Bank. It's where, according to the Bible, Jesus Christ was tempted by the devil for forty days and forty nights. The mountain is also known as Mount Quarantania or the "Temptation Mount." It is a steep cliff that rises to 800 meters above the desert floor and has a cave near the summit. Legend has it that this is where Jesus was tempted by the devil, who came in the form of a talking snake. Jesus resisted the temptations and refused to turn a stone into bread, bow down to worship Satan, and jump off the mountain for fear of injury.
