Mulian Rescues His Mother
Okay kiddo, so there was this guy named Mulian who loved his mom very much. One day, he found out that she was stuck in a place called the underworld, where she was suffering and couldn't come back home. Mulian was very sad and he wanted to help his mom, so he went on a big adventure to the underworld to rescue her.
Now, getting to the underworld wasn't easy. Mulian had to cross a big river by walking on lotus leaves, which was pretty cool. When he finally got to the underworld, he met the king of the underworld and asked him to let his mom go. But the king said no and told Mulian that he couldn't take his mom back with him.
Mulian didn't give up though. He went to visit his mom and saw that she was being punished by being hungry and thirsty. Mulian felt really bad for her, so he went to the heavens to ask the Buddha for help. The Buddha gave him some magical food and drinks to give to his mom so she wouldn't be hungry or thirsty anymore.
When Mulian gave the food and drinks to his mom, she felt a lot better and was able to tell Mulian about all the bad things that were happening in the underworld. Mulian was really upset to hear all of this, so he went back to the king of the underworld and told him he had to change his ways.
The king was so impressed with Mulian's determination and bravery that he finally agreed to let Mulian take his mom back home. Mulian was overjoyed and brought his mom back home with him. Everyone was so happy to see Mulian and his mom reunited, and Mulian was praised for his love and devotion to his mom.
And that, my dear child, is how Mulian rescued his mother from the underworld.
