ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Multicellular organism

A multicellular organism is like a big family made up of lots of different parts that all work together to keep the organism healthy and strong. Just like how you have different parts of your body like your arms, legs, and tummy, a multicellular organism has different parts too called cells.

These cells are like tiny building blocks that come together to form all the different parts of the organism, like its skin, organs, and muscles. And just like how every member of a family has a different job or role to play, every cell in a multicellular organism also has a different job to do.

Some cells are in charge of breathing, while others help with digestion or muscle movement. And just like how families communicate with each other to figure out what needs to be done, the cells in a multicellular organism also communicate with each other to coordinate their activities and keep the organism healthy.

Overall, a multicellular organism is like a big team made up of lots of smaller teams (cells) working together to keep the organism alive and well.
