Okay kiddo, you know when you get sick and you go to the doctor to get better? Sometimes doctors and scientists work together to study certain sicknesses, like when you catch a cold or get a boo-boo. One type of sickness they study is called "multiple myeloma," which is when your body makes too many bad cells called "plasma cells" and they can cause problems with your bones, blood, and kidneys.
So, some really smart adults created a group called the "Multiple Myeloma Research Consortium" or MMRC for short. And their job is to study and try to find new ways to treat people who have multiple myeloma.
The MMRC is made up of different people and groups, like doctors, nurses, researchers, and charities, who all work together to find out more about this sickness. They do things like come up with new medicines to help people feel better, find ways to test for it earlier, and even work together to make sure people with multiple myeloma are getting the best care possible.
Basically, the MMRC is like a big team of people who all want to help people with multiple myeloma feel better and get better. Just like how you have friends who help you feel better when you get sick, the MMRC is there to help people who have multiple myeloma feel better too!
